We want all our patients to be Cavity Free Club Members!

We are so proud of our Cavity Free kids! We want to give extra recognition to the children who are doing an amazing job taking care of their teeth and staying cavity free! We feel the best way to teach our younger patients about maintaining their dental hygiene is by making it FUN! With our Cavity Free Kids Club, we aim to educate and encourage our young patients to take care of their beautiful, young smiles.

If your child has a cavity free check up, they will become a member of the Cavity Free Club! We will give them a certificate, have them take a picture, and enter their name in a drawing for some extra special prizes. At the end of the month, we hold a drawing. The winner of the drawing will not only get a special prize, but they will be featured as our Cavity Free Kid of the Month!

If your child has a cavity at their visit, don’t worry! Once we have taken care of the cavity, your child will be cavity free and gets to join the Cavity Free Kids Club!

Prevention

Your child’s lifetime of good oral health depends on the dental care they receive today. A healthy child is a happy child and oral hygiene can affect everything from nutrition and self-esteem to academics and speech.

It’s Your Time Dental is here to help parents with prevention. Our goal is to give families resources to help them care for their teeth. After your first visit, we recommend you visit us every six months to help stay on top of your child’s oral health establishing consistency for your child to form good dental health care habits.

Brushing

It is best to brush your child’s teeth twice a day. You want to use a smal soft brush We recommend replacing your toothbrush every 3-6 months. Brush in small circular motions and make sure to brush the gums as well as the teeth, but brush gently or you may damage the gums. Dont forget to brush your tongue.

Flossing

Flossing helps remove plaque between. You can not reach these areas with a toothbrush, making it important to floss every day. Take a piece of floss about 18 inches long and wrap one end around one of your middle fingers and the other end around your other middle finger, until your hands are a few inches apart. Carefully work the floss between each of your teeth and towards your gums. Be sure to get beneath the gums and move up and down several times.

Nutrition

Sugar can cause cavities. Starch can also cause cavities. When starch is broken down, it can turn into sugars. it is good to avoid foods that have high sugar content and are sticky, such as fruit snacks. These items can get stuck to your teeth very easily. Instead, think about substituting friendllier foods, such as fresh fruit and vegetables or dairy products like cheese and yogurt. It’s also best to not have too may sugary drinks like juice or soda.

Caries & Cavities

Good hygiene is the first step towards preventing cavities. Through proper care and nutrition, we can help make our kids avoid unhealthy teeth. Caries is the medical term for the disease that leads to cavities. By creating an environment for strong and healthy healthy teeth, we can keep our children from ever going down a road of poor hygiene that leads to caries and then, ultimately to cavities. One way we can hel is by providing sealants for your child’s teeth. This is a coating that seals off the grooves and dips on the top of the teeth. This keeps bacteria and food from getting caught in them. Studies have found a reduction of cavity incidences in children and adolescents who have had sealants applied.
